Lord Ganesha takes His seat on the finest throne in the heavens. His chubby, childlike body is clad in a short dhoti, as could be deduced from His pendant legs. Streams of shringar meander across His pot-bellied torso, which in turn is held in place and kept from bursting by a self-knotted snake. A distinctive murti in yellow gold monotone, this regal Lord Ganesha is replete with a kind of aesthetic that stands out.
The majesty of the son of Lord Shiva lies in the childlike wisdom of His demeanour and His generosity with blessings and boons. Some unusual aspects of the Lord Ganesha iconography are the serrations on the trunk, the droop of the elephant-ears, and the bit of shringar down the midline of His face. Note the broad straight-backed shoulders and the omniscience in His gaze. Each of these are infused with a lifelike quality and a superfine attention to detail.
It is the abundance of vine and leaf around the throne of the Lord that adds life to His image. Zoom in on the thickly curling tendrils around His silhouette, the precision and symmetry of the finish. Together with the style of pedestal the throne is resting on and the ornate umbrella over His halo, the impression is of a kingly Lord Ganesha borne on a fine chariot.
