The little boy-deity of the Hindoo pantheon emerges from the gracious folds of a conch. Son of Lord Shiva, beloved of Devi Parvati, He is widely adored as a bala-deva. This unusual Lord Ganesha iconography captures the wisdom and innocence of His childlike demeanour, as He sits there bundled up like a baby in the arms of its mother.
Zoom in on the precisely done iconography of the Lord. Silk dhoti and ample gold adornments. Chaturbhujadhari (four-armed), with the laddoo impact in one of the anterior hands. A superfine crown on His baby-brow, beneath which is the gaze of omniscience. The elephantine ear-flaps and the lifelike curl of the tip of His little trunk. From the tilt of His head to the stance of His chubby torso and the way His plump legs are gathered beneath Him, this Lord Ganesha murti captures His personality to perfection. In Indian culture the conch stands for all that is sacred and sattvik. The hollowed out number that you see on this page comes with serrations on the inside, which have been finished with considerable uniformity and symmetry. Solid-coloured vine the colour of gold has been engraved on the curve of the edge of the conch. The ensemble rests at an angle on a minimalistic lotus pedestal.
