As the name says, Naga Kanya is the daughter of the serpent, a guardian of treasures and a benevolent goddess of the three realms. As per Hindu Mythology, Nagas are the serpentine spirits who reside in the underworld and protect and offer teachings of the Mother Goddess.
This brass statue aptly depicts her as the queen in the iconographic lower body of a serpent chiselled in realistic patterns, torso of a human female adorned with jewels, bird wings carved in beauteous aesthetics, seven hooded cobras presiding up above her floral crown indicating her high level of initiation and a conch shell in her hands. She also wears a thin stole that flows from her hands and forms a symbolic serpent like wave at the sides.
Naga Kanya is often opined as an ally of Vishnu and a goddess of good fortune and abundance, while the Buddhist traditions accept her as the tantric goddess and protector of Dharma. Presence of this Snake Woman wall hanging in any house or temple is said to bring enormous blessings, love, prosperity, friendship, spiritual growth, enlightenment and protection.
