On the round base stands the container, the shape of which is formed by four painted stars, joined point to point horizontally. This narrows on top to a bell shaped piece to which the rest of the upper pipe like part can be screwed. The pipe like part consists of five divisions, each becoming narrower as it goes up. The last one ends in a cap like nozzle with a couple of holes.
India has a tradition of treating their guests like God. They have various means to welcome guests on special occasions. This container is used to fill in aromatic liquid (normally rose water) in the lower, wider portion. The guests are sprinkled with the fragrant liquid that passes through the nozzle in small quantities.
