Here Shri Hanuman is conceived essentially as a human being except for his head and tail. He is crowned with a high crown typical to South Indian iconography, and wears numerous ornaments. He is poised in a semi-kneeling posture with the right knee touching the ground. His arms, uniquely poised in the Namaskar mudra, are reflections of his utmost humility, a true characteristic of a true bhakta. His mace, the symbol of his valor, lies peacefully and horizontally to his right on the lotus pedestal.

This image was sculpted in the ancient city of Swamimalai, the traditional center for bronze casting in India. The artisans there still use the centuries old method of wax casting, where one mold is used to prepare only one sculpture.
