Pirate-Black Tusha Shawl from Kashmir with Sozni Hand-Embroidered Floral Vines and Giant Paisleys

$145
The hallmark of the sumptuous tusha fabric is the characteristic translucence. Endemic to the northern valley region, this variety of wool is as soft as it is warm and makes for a very seductive layering option over sarees and suits. The one you see on this page has been handpicked from Kashmir for its elegance, set off by the regal colour palette of black and gold. Together with the undulating drape of the sheer fabric, this makes for the perfect evening shawl.

Thick panels of dense sozni embroidery, a fine example of the region’s expressive needlework, define the edges of this shawl. Zoom in on the diamond-shaped network of gold- and pastel-coloured thread which make for a miniscule yet complex vine motif. An especially lush tendril curves outwards from the edge on to the field of the shawl at strategic distance from each other. The curvaceous, elongated paisleys are the most striking aspect of this glamorous number.
