About the CDs
Ayurveda is the science of life. It provides us all the information about living beings right from birth to death. It carries all the information about what happens to the foetus in the womb of the mother. The ancient sages who had collected the information through their extraordinary vision & wisdom knew about the growth of the foetus, various stages of the growth, the organ development in each month & the material requirement for the better development of the specific tissue under development process in that particular month.
Sursanjeevan is a system of Music Therapy conceived & created by Pandit Shashank Katti based on the principles of Ayurveda and modern inventions that were testified by the help of some of the latest developments in applied sciences & medicines. Music therapy has been a highly-researched phenomenon throughout the western world since the last 5 decades. There have been tremendous studies & findings suggesting the deep rooted activity of the music on human physiology, specially the neuro-hormonal system & brain. Garbhankur encompasses Musical Management for the expectant mother & the foetus in the womb. It facilitates smooth delivery of the baby.
Since the first month is known only after missing the period, the music is from the second month of pregnancy to the ninth month. The tenth month of pregnancy is just the phase in waiting for the delivery to occur, This phase starts from the very completion of the 9th month & does not follow a long course. The musical management provided in the 9th month is complete enough to go through the last lap of pregnancy ending in natural process of delivery without any intervention required.
In Garbhankur, the music of every month which is to be heard in the early part of the day is selected on the basis of Ayurvedic principles. This regulates the functions of different doshas at their optimum level according to the requirement for foetus development during the pregnancy period. The evening music in Garbankur is mainly to calm the mind of the expectant mother and relax her. This music helps the mother in many disorders like Hypertension, Diabetes, Mental disturbances and also enhances her concentration and memory. It is also observed that the effect of Garbhankur goes beyond the delivery & leads to better physical, psychological, intellectual & spiritual development of the child. It has been observed that the children who receive Garbhankur during pregnancy days have a better healthy life with less disease exposure; their EQ & lQ will be of a higher level. They could cope with stress in a better way, and learn things faster, It is also observed that they have an inborn inclination towards classical music.
It is also a well established fact worldwide that the therapeutic music used during pregnancy does not carry any side effect. This is the safest form of treatment which is well accepted by the baby. One must remember that though the music has primarily been created for the well-being of the foetus, it is also extremely useful in relieving stress of the expectant mother & improving her physical, psychological, intellectual & spiritual health to the optimum level, thereby making pregnancy a wonderful & blissful experience.
Music Therapy is a concept that has been existent since ages and contrary to what most people believe it is anything but new. In ayurveda it is known as Gandharva Veda. This therapy is believed to have flourished during the time of Tansen the great musician from Mughal Emperor Akbar’s court. However later as music became recognized as an entertaing art the knowledge of treating with music or in other words music therapy seemed to fade away into obscurity.
Ayurveda the ancient Indian science of lifestyle and medication has references on music. Therapy based on Indian Raga Music. This therapy was well known as Gandharva Ved. The references explain how the different types and pitches of sounds work on three major energy systems working in our body which in Ayurveda are known as Vat Dosha, Pitta Dosha and Kaph Dosha with this it can be easily concluded that Indian Ragas were designed with rules and regulations to regulate the working of these Doshas at their optimum levels in their functioning time period and thus for the betterment of the health of mankind.
But when the doshas are not at their optimum level imbalance occurs in the body and ailments are generated. To treat the aliments the Ragas must be played in a particular organized format to enhance or decrease the functioning of the affected dosha/dodhas. Sometimes the Ragas are to be modified according to the requirements of imbalance of the dosha.
Since 1997 Pt. Shashank Katti a renowned sitar artist has been working on Music. Therapy he has been developing a specific theory Sursanjeevan for the same with the help of well qualified doctors and vaidyas of Ayurveda.
In this new science he amalgamates modern medical invention in Ayurvedic principles with traditional Indian classical Music. It was observed that after hearing certain modified Ragas at a specific stipulated time regularly for one month patients started reporting favorable results.
According to Pt. Katti this is a supplementary therapy is to be given along with regular medicine Patients would eventually have to simply reduce the doses of their regular medicine with advice from the doctor.
The music in this album is a culmination of well researched tried and tested methodologies. The tracks are based on specific Ragas for the second month to the ninth month of pregnancy. The instruction given inside should be strictly followed.
