With exclusive footage of and interviews with members of the royal family and in particular the Maharaja himself director Anu Malhotra tells the story of the boy who would be king enthroned at age 4 his trials and tributions over the tumultuous years of historical change and of his quest to be a modern Maharaja.

This extravagant docu feature was filmed over a year and showcases the life and lifestyle of the Gaj Singh II along with Jodhpur’s incredible living traditions vibrant festivals ceremonial pageantry and its regal splendor.

The Royal Durbar - which celebrates the 50th year of his coronation a glittering historical occasion

Akha Teej Durbar - when the Rathor’s sip saffron water (formerly opium) from their Maharaja’s Palm

Dusshera Durbar - where ties with the Rathor clan are renewed with the anointing of swords by the Maharaja

Birthday Celebrations - formal durbars royal processions and ritual greetings by women dressed in their tradition best.

A glamorous royal lifestyle - polo vintage cares, courtly dance performances and exclusive footage from the Raj Era of Princely India.

For the first time a film gains unique access to the royal family introducing the charming princess Shivranjani Rajye and Prince of Hearts Yovraj Shivraj Singh.

The Maharaja of Jodhpur has been feted and screened in 15 International film festivals through 2004 - 2006 and was the opening film of the Miami film Festival in 2004. it premiered in 2004 at the Nehru centre in London.

About the Artiste

Anu Malhotra is one of India’s top Producer - Director, having won over 15 national and international awards for her pioneering and critically acclaimed documentaries television programmes and awareness campaigns.

Anu step up AIM Television in 1994 as a boutique production house and went on to create over 600 hours of quality non-fiction television programming for premiere Indian satellite channels like Zee TV. Sony, BBC and reputed international channels like Discovery. Travel Channel U.K. France 5etal. With its stunning and impeccable content & Production Value Anu’s work has always received rave reviews from audiences and press like.

She also worked with the BBC world service Trust as the creative head of it’s India Project with the specific mission of raising awareness about HIV/AIDS. But despite her remarkable repertoire of work Anu’s first love has always been documentary films through which she hopes to transform the lives and minds of people across Indian and the world.
