Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, Atharvaveda – are the most sacred and ancient works of Hinduism. Even today prominent mantras from The Vedas like The Gayatri Mantra and The Mahamrityunjaya Mantra are an essential part of daily life. The Vedas are more an oral than a written tradition – the sacred mantras need to be uttered in the right accent, intonation and pronunciation. To achieve this purity, specific forms of recitation have been designed – samhita path, jata path, kram path and so on.
