In this painting, we see Hanuman with five heads and twice as many arms. He is painted of golden complexion, sitting in padmasana on a lotus seat. The face is depicted as that of a monkey's, but his limbs & torso are conventionally correct. The other four heads are those of Varaha, Garuda, Ashva and Simha. If the nine hands of Panchmukha Hanuman hold various attributes, the normal right hand is held in a preaching mode. This image is placed in a niche having broad based pillars and multi layered dome.
As in any other folk art, it is not 'art for art's sake' but 'art for the sake of God'. The colors, flatly applied, are appealing. The shapes and lines do not smoothly extend into the other the line has sharpness that belies harmony. The image and the surroundings have a confluence of colors, cool and warm. The sky above has a tranquilizing blue with curling clouds. The borders again have crowded pattern, leaving little empty spaces.
