  • By far, the best painting I have seen listed at this site. In the style of Gauguin...beautiful color and balance....delicate detail. Wonderful! Forget all the negative comments. I love this painting.

  • I do not care for this racist imagery. There is no need to show the darker woman in such a poor and unflattering light.

  • According to my understanding, India has a rigid caste system very deeply ingrained into their entire social fabric. I was suprised to learn that skin color plays a powerful roll in a persons percieved level in the caste system, with the paler, light skinned being the most aristocratic and the darker, the more lowly the worker. Apparently, this was the way of things in India for as long as anyone remembers, and prejudicial view of skin color is more rampant and deeply ingrained than even European or modern western culture.

  • is light beautiful? and dark less so?? is light more important? and dark insignificant?? is this a cultural icon depiction of beauty??

  • Two women - one rich, one poor; one master, one servant; one beautyful, one not so beautiful; both human.
India has a variety of people that live in different circumstances in different parts of the country. While all are human, they look different from each other, and they live in different circumstances.
Indians are not of one race. So, the experience of the artist, which resulted in such depicting of these two women in different circumstances, is commonplace.

The second woman's picture should have been more vivid.

  • Please tell me you are not calling the dark lady a beast.... I understand this from some of the people of Europe but not people of color.

Testimonials
Thanks again Exotic India! Always perfect! Great books, India's wisdom golden peak of knowledge!!!
Fotis, Greece
I received the statue today, and it is beautiful! Worth the wait! Thank you so much, blessings, Kimberly.
Kimberly, USA
I received the Green Tara Thangka described below right on schedule. Thank you a million times for that. My teacher loved it and was extremely moved by it. Although I have seen a lot of Green Tara thangkas, and have looked at other Green Tara Thangkas you offer and found them all to be wonderful, the one I purchased is by far the most beautiful I have ever seen -- or at least it is the one that most speaks to me.
John, USA
Your website store is a really great place to find the most wonderful books and artifacts from beautiful India. I have been traveling to India over the last 4 years and spend 3 months there each time staying with two Bengali families that I have adopted and they have taken me in with love and generosity. I love India. Thanks for doing the business that you do. I am an artist and, well, I got through I think the first 6 pages of the book store on your site and ordered almost 500 dollars in books... I'm in trouble so I don't go there too often.. haha.. Hari Om and Hare Krishna and Jai.. Thanks a lot for doing what you do.. Great !
Steven, USA
