Batik showcases its variety and artistry through multiple themes that not only include genre aspects but also popular iconic images. Durga's image as Mahishasuramardini and Vaishno Devi are amongst the most popular ones.

Here the Devi projects an overwhelming omnipotence. Her iconographic representation is nearly always as a youthful woman who is brilliant like the light of a thousand suns arisen at once. Her multiple arms hold auspicious weapons and emblems, presented to her by the gods. On her head is a crown of jewels. She is gracefully seated on the lion, her face having the glory of a lotus flower. She has eight arms and the third eye is absent. This is her benevolent countenance, what with the gesture of protection and a gesture of bestowing boons. The drawing's expansive curves convey the calm monumentality of the transcendent feminine reality that underscores the universe.

Serene and powerful, she has exceptionally beautiful oval eyes, smoothly delineated limbs poised in dynamic actions and the hands holding the deadly weapons are long and supple. There is a halo around her head that adds to the peaceful ambience. In fact, her composure and calm reminds the viewer of her tremendous power.
