Standing Lord Avalokiteshvara murti, surrounded by a striking aureole. Designed in a way to accommodate the multitudinous limbs and heads of the Bodhisattva, it is a perfectly symmetrical number and serves to build the impression of a temple around Him. Lord Avalokiteshvara is the most widely loved of the Mahayana Bodhisattvas. He is the epitome of compassion, the very image of the strength and succour sought by those caught up in the tribulations of worldliness. A thousand hands (He is sahasrabhujadhari) and infinite heads, each of them a picture of deep contemplation; within Him is contained all that the heart of the devoted needs and wants.

A stunningly symmetrical silhouette. A mound of rock at His feet, the mythical wish-fulfilling mani (jewel) in the clasp of His anteriormost palms. A wide multi-tiered platform, a signature element of Buddhist temples in the Northwest. Lord Avalokiteshvara is the Bodhisattva of compassion. Resident of Mount Patala, He is said to have casually leaned over ihaloka, at a single glance of the dukkha prevailing therewhich His head split into infinitude. A work of art as fine as the idea is sacred, it comes with luxuriant engravings along the width of the aureole. The same emerges from a pedestal of gleaming lotus petals.
