An image of Buddha in the space of a devotee is an empowering presence. Gazing at the form of Buddha, inspires serenity and focus in the heart and his light creates an aura of optimism and sacredness. This antique brass wall hanging from Nepal brings to the followers of the Buddha, a divine representation of the Tathagata, in the legendary Dharmachakrapravartan mudra- the gesture of turning the wheel of Dharma, representing the First Sermon of the Buddha at Sarnath, a powerful moment in Buddhism.

On a beautiful lotus throne, Buddha sits wrapped in a monk’s attire, with a stunning inward smile animating his face and a halo surrounding him. Light of pure wisdom radiates from the heavenly body of the Buddha, forming a celestial aura around him. The environs of Sarnath, where the Buddha gave the sermon have been recreated in metal work, with etchings and texture representing the rough, stony ground of Deer Park, with hints of grass. Motifs of clouds add a liveliness to the composition, while two Stupas on each side of the Buddha amplify the sacredness of the artwork.
