Zoom in on the shapely, engraved number, made from gold and silver that speak volumes of the heavenly glamour of Lord Ganesha. Here, gold and silver are not proof of plenty or materialistic well-being, which have very little to do with asceticism. Those elements are to be found in Hindoo iconography as a statement of purity and indestructibility of the deities and the values they stand for.
The rest of the Lord Ganesha iconography has been fulfilled with great beauty and detail. Shirt and dhoti of gold and coloured inlaid bits, a lifelike face and stance of the trunk, and hyper-precise digits, especially the ones holding the parasol. Finally, the high pedestal - pale gold base colour alternating with the deep pastel tones of the inlay - complements the symmetry and vibrance of this composition.
