This imposing image of Nataraja dancing on the back of a dwarf conforms strictly to textual prescriptions. Shiva dances in the middle of a nearly perfect circular prabha with both His rear arms reaching up to it. The damaru is in the right rear hand while the fire is in the corresponding left. The matted locks spread out symmetrical on both the sides. Ganga is on the right, represented as a woman above her waist, with the lower body shown as waves. Perfectly balancing Ganga’s image is that of a serpent, symmetrically opposite to her.

The front hands are in the abhaya and gaga-hasta mudras. The lifted left leg is perfectly balanced. The dwarf on whom the God stands has his face turned up. The prabha tipped with flames issues from two makara heads.
