The shashabhujadhari or six-armed roopa of Lord Ganesha. On the back of His vahana, the mouse, He stands, with a single foot pressed against the docile creature. The other leg is bent, the foot raised high in the air. Seated on the bent limb is Devi Siddhi, the little-known wife of Ganesha.

This Ganapati murti is a wood-carved sculpture of substantial proportions. It is a contemporary reproduction of the iconography which is part of ancient South Indian temple architecture. As such, it features a diverse colour palette. The pale colour of crushed lotus petals makes up Ganesha’s complexion, in direct contrast to Siddhi’s olive-coloured nakedness.

An archway of lotus petals, with a plateful of laddoos at the base of one of the pillars, frames the ensemble described heretofore. An imposing Kirtimukham motif is carved at the zenith of the archway. Without Kirtimukham, a composition such as this would be incomplete.
