This icon of the Goddess Lakshmi is not only aesthetically very appealing, but also apt - in her gold- and silver-finish splendour, She indeed looks like the Oriental deity of wealth and prosperity. Bearing nothing but lotuses, blessings, and a gleaming halo around Her head, this idol is the very picture of peace and plenty. Note how intricately the saree is draped around Her curvaceous form, with the pallu across one shoulder and the skirts falling gracefully down the length of Her entire limb. It is discernible from the drape that the pleats of Her saree are tucked into the section wound round Her small waist, concealed in this one-of-a-kind sculpture by the gorgeous necklaces She is wearing. This statue stands out from conventional statues of Hindu goddesses owing to the arguably contemporary draping of Her divine attire.
