The swan is a symbol of discriminating wisdom since it is believed that a swan can separate milk from water; similarly, with Devi Saraswati's blessings, her devotees too can discrinimate between what is right and what is wrong.
Saraswati's devotees, particularly students, worship her as the source of knoweldge. However, the rosary in her hand negates mere bookish-knoweldge and encourages students to meditate on what they have learned.
As the goddess of music Saraswati is particulalry sacred to those who sing or play instruments. Her garlanded image is present in the homes of all musicians, Hindu and Muslim alike.
Of all the materials used in making deity diols, white marble is considered the most auspicios for worship. This sculpture was created using a single block of white marble from the mines of Makrana in Rajasthan. It was sculpted in Jaipur.
