Peacock Urli

Natural Brass
Brown Gold
Peacock Urli

A brass urli is one of the most commonly used ornamentation for decorating house corners or office receptions in the contemporary era. The deep bowl and stylized pattern of the urli shown here is the primary highlighted factor of its purchase. Traditionally, urli or uruli was used in homes as a cookware or to serve food in front of guests and in Ayurveda it was a container for making medicines.

Initially urlis gained extensive popularity in South Indian states, but now they are sold in all parts of the country. Exotic India provides you with a wide range of urli collection of varied sizes and designs; the one you see here is available in two entirely different colors of a pure natural brass and the other in a combination of brown and gold. It is supported by three triangular leaf-like legs at the bottom and a usual pot shaped bowl of a considerate depth. This one is slightly different from others because of the highly dignified peacock carvings on one side of the bowl. Its finite structures and twirls along with the beautifully patterned peacock body having long tail that curls at ends is a treat to watch.

The two handles on either side of the bowl help to carry it easily and the carved design in the front adds-up to its beauty. It is a great symbol of wealth when kept in north or east facing direction; filled with water and flower petals floating on top of it is the way of using it as a decoration, keeping in touch with the South Indian tradition.
