This sari follows the Venkatagiri weaving tradition to the hilt. The body of the sari is plain in dark violet color with self-checks making the plain body a little more prominent. The border of the sari is on both sides. Set against a green background, the border is woven in zari threads with peacock motifs woven in a horizontal sequence. The peacock motif is a favorite with the Venkatagiri saris and probably represents the vehicle of the god 'Subramanyam' who finds a lot of devotees in the Southern part of India.
The pallav is plain with vertical zari threads. Overall the sari is a great evening and summer wear and is suited to all age groups. The crisp cotton texture of the sari makes it very elegant and comfortable to wear.
