Book Description
Publisher's Note

The Charm and Power of the Gita, by Swami Ranganathanandaji, currently President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, consists of two parts: Part one, 'An Introduction to the Study of the Gita', was formerly published as a small booklet to introduce the Bhagavad Gita to thinking people of the modern world who are busy with the various duties of their different vocations. Part two,' The Charm and power of the gita', was an illuminating talk given on this great scripture.

The three chapters in Part one were originally lectures delivered by the author in February-March 1946 under the auspices of the now defunct Ramakrishna Society, Hyderabad, Sind, Pakistan. They subsequently appeared in May and June 1946 and February 1947 issues of the Vedanta Kesari, a monthly journal of the Ramakrishna Order published from Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mylapore, Chennai. Later, in 1950, these articles were put together and published as a booklet by the Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong. In 1969 this booklet was republished by the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, and finally in 1991 by us. Part two is a highly informative introductory chapter from the author's Universal Message of the Bhagavad Gita, a three-volume lecture-based work (now being published) containing verse-to-verse exposition of the whole scripture in the light of modern thought and modern requirements.

We believe that this published in this new form will give the readers a comprehensive idea of the Gita and its message, and enable them to find strength and inspiration to face the varied problems in their day-to-day lives.
