About the Author

Venkatesh is a fifteen year old student born with a love of books. From a very early age, he was drawn into the world of stories and mysteries, tales of heroics and lores of fictional worlds, all originating from a few printed lines on paper. At the age of fourteen, he decided to weave a story of his own, a story inspired from the scenes he saw and stories he heard, a tale of Hindu mythology.

He is currently based in Hyderabad, studying in Oakridge International School and spending his time pursuing his hobbies of playing basketball, inventing his own fantasy worlds, and of course, reading books!

Preface

This book is about Rachika Reddy, a normal teenager, who is faced with normal everyday challenges like being imprisoned by Hindu demigods.

Growing up in India, I was always fascinated by how modern technology blended and coexisted so easily with two-thousand-year- old rituals. A pandit asking Alexa to play the Hanuman Chalisa, or a holy man asking me to pay through Paytm (Venmo) after giving us the blessings of the adorned cow by his side. These everyday sights always amazed me, making me think how unique my country is.

And Hindu mythology. It has over 33 million gods, not to mention the countless other species of demigods and celestial beings. This is a mythology that is perhaps as old as those of the Greeks and Romans, but unlike them, it's alive and thriving even today.

My book, originally meant to represent these, went off track about two chapters in. Still, it is a story of the odd, yet pleasing culture of India, a story of conflicting emotions and epic struggles, and most of all, a story of my own fantasies...
