Dance like a Man
Dance like a Man
Description
From the Back of the Book

Jairaj Parekh and his wife Ratna, ageing Bharatyam dancers, are engaged in finding a substitute mridangam player to accompany their daughter Lata at her performance at a high-profile dance festival. Lata, in the meantime, nervously awaits the meeting between the parents and Viswas, the young man she wishes to marry. When the four meet, and in the conversations and discussions that follow, the fissures in the relationship between Jairaj and Ratna begin to explode into high-strung battles which lead back to their own youth and the tragedy that lies at the heart of their discord. The younger couple have their own issues to contend with the obvious mismatch between the two sets of parents, the arguments over Lata's career as a dancer after marriage and most unsetting of all Lata's attempt to balance her parents ambition with her own needs and desires.

A brilliant study of human relationships and weakness framed by the age old battle between tradition and youthful rebellion, Dance like a Man has been Hailed as one of the best works of the dramatic imagination in recent times.

I am very thankful to you for keeping such rare and quality books, DVDs, and CDs of classical music and even Dhrupad which is almost unbelievable. I hope you continue to be this good in your helpfulness. I have found books about rare cultural heritage such as Kodava samaj, Dhrupad and other DVDs and CDs in addition to the beautiful sarees I have from your business, actually business is not the right word, but for lack of a word I am using this.

I was pleased to chance upon your site last year though the name threw me at first! I have ordered several books on Indian theatre and performance, which I haven't found elsewhere (including Amazon) or were unbelievably exorbitantly priced first editions etc. I appreciate how well you pack the books in your distinctive protective packaging for international and domestic mailing (for I order books for India delivery as well) and the speed with which my order is delivered, well within the indicated time. Good work!
Chitra, United Kingdom

I love your company and have been buying a variety of wonderful items from you for many years! Keep up the good work!
