Hinduism-A Panoramic View
About The Book

TO The Reader

Hinduism appears to be a very complex religion. Whether it means all things to all men or insurutable to everyone, it has successfully survived even to this day. This small book is an attempt at making it a little less complicated a little more intelligible, to the layman and a little simpler to adopt or follow.

There are already quite a few books on Hinduism published not only by the Ramakrishna Order but also by others. However one more book on the subject written from another angle will not at least create more confusion even if it does not throw more light

If the reader finds that it rather has some chinks let us hope that these very same chinks may also let in some light on a few hitherto little-known aspects.

Let us wait and see

Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Deva On Hinduism

This Sanatana Dharma the Eternal Religion declared by the rishis, will alone endure.

The Eternal religion the religion if the rishis had been in existence from time out of mind and will exist eternally. There exist in this Sanatana Dharma all form and worship of the Impersonal Deity as well. It contains all paths -the path of knowledge the path of devotion and so o. other forms of religion, the modern cults will remain for a few days and than disappear.

The Hindu Religion alone is the Sanatana Dharma… The Hindu Religion has always existed and will always exist.

Thus Spake Vivekananda

Mind you, we have no quarrel with any religion in the world. We have each our Ishta. But when we see a man coming can saying. This is the only way," and trying to force it on us in India, we have a word to say: we laugh at them. For such people who want to destroy their brothers because they seem to follow a different path towards God- for them to talk of love is absurd. Their love does not count for much. How can they preach of love who cannot forbear another man to follow a different path from their own? If that is love, what is hatred (III. 131-32)

You have withstood the shocks of centuries simply because you took great care of it yet sacrificed everything else for it. Your forefathers underwent everything boldly even death itself but preserved their religion. Temple after was broken down by the foreign conqueror, but no sooner had the wave passed than the spire of the temple rose up again. Some of these old temples of Southern India, and those like Somanath of Gujarat will teach you volumes of wisdom will give you a keener insight into the history of the race than any amount of books. Marks how these temples bear the marks of hundred attacks and a hundred regenerations continually destroyed and continually springing up out of the ruins rejuvenated and strong as ever(III 289)

Mark me then and than alone you are a Hindu when the very name sends through you a galvanic shock of strength. Then and then alone you are a Hindu when every man who bears the name from any country speaking our language or any other language becomes at once the nearest and the dearest to you. T

The best and fastest service worldwide - I am in Australia and I put in a big order of books (14 items) on a Wednesday; it was sent on Friday and arrived at my doorstep early on Monday morning - amazing! All very securely packed in a very strong cardboard box. I have bought several times from Exotic India and the service is always exceptionally good. THANK YOU and NAMASTE!

I wanted to let you know how happy we are with our framed pieces of Shree Durga and Shree Kali. Thank you and thank your framers for us. By the way, this month we offered a Puja and Yagna to the Ardhanarishwara murti we purchased from you last November. The Brahmin priest, Shree Vivek Godbol, who was visiting LA preformed the rites. He really loved our murti and thought it very paka. I am so happy to have found your site , it is very paka and trustworthy. Plus such great packing and quick shipping. Thanks for your service Vipin, it is a pleasure.
Gina, USA
