Ganesha, lord of the ganas, is the most universally adored of all the Hindu gods and his image is found in practically every part of India. In every kind of religious and auspicious ceremony, Ganesha is the first god whose help is invoked.

Here, poised in the tribhanga position, Ganesha lifts his right foot and commences a step of dance. Unlike most representations of Nrtt-Ganapati where the right leg is lift almost to the corresponding knee, he bends the left leg outwards and just slightly raise the right foot. Ganesha is mostly represented in a dancing attitude as Vinayak, the Buddhist god. Wearing a turmeric yellow dhoti, tied at the waist with a red waist cloth. This dancing Ganapati holds a veena. Out of the four arms, he uses two hands playing the instrument. The other two hands are in abhaya and varada mudra, sending blessings and a message of fear not. Ganesha's head is turned towards the right but the trunk sharply curves towards the left. Besides wearing long strings of precious stones, he also wears a garland of wild flowers. The crown is small and simple, going well with the simple ornaments.

On the left corner in the foreground stands the mouse, Ganesha's mount, playing a drum. Other than the face, the rodent's body is human.
