Music has always been of primary importance in the world of meditation, relaxation and introspection. And not by chance. Unlike other artistic expression, music addresses itself directly to that more instinctive and intimate part of ourselves which does not need the logical mind to function and respond.
Music has been used by Osho to support the inner journey, nourishing its aspects of silence and celebration. The celebrative qualities of music are obvious to everyone. What is perhaps less obvious is its capacity to create silence, to awaken spirituality, to tickle the subtle energies that toward the mystery of our existence.
The music on this CD is a musical interpretation of this mystery.
"The drum has a special appeal - the reason is very deep rooted. You will have to understand it. When a cild is conceived in the womb, but the child cannot breathe, he has to breathe from the mother. In fact, the mother breathes for him. And for nine months continuosly. It is the first meeting with music and rhythm...And then the child is born. The whole body system, the mind system, carries that desire for the beat, for the rhythm of the mother's heart...
Hence, from his deep biologicalexperience of the child, comes the appeal of the drum. The drum is the oldest instrument of music; Everything else has followed it. so whenever somebody is beating a drum the temptation is too much - you start moving your legs, you start swaying your body. If the beater is good and really knows how to create atmosphere through the drumbeat, nobody can be there who is not affected. Even a buddha would like to dance."
