Radha and Krishna are the role models for love, romance and sensuality in nearly all Indian classical poetry and art. Radha loves Krishna with all her heart, defying society and her own will even though he is not always faithful to her.

Complying with the typical pata-chitra prototype figures and features, the artist places Radha and Krishna on a lotus in a complex dance posture. Their bodies entwined and limbs conjoined in a manner close to contortion. The blue-bodied Krishna seems in sharp contrast to the golden complexioned Radha. Their attire and ornaments are specific to the region and look exquisite. Radha and Krishna look in perfect harmony literally and metaphorically.

If the lyricism in the figures of Radha and Krishna was not enough, there are two beautiful damsels on either side. In tribhanga pose, they dance in unison with the two. They too, are conspicuous by their ostentatious ornaments.

The softly converging branches of the tree overhead are also devoid of any sharp edges, keeping with the smooth lines of the figures. The foreground comprises of a lotus pond with a couple of swans. The dull beige background is complemented by the unusual black of the pond.
