Preface

Gaurav…’ A whisper in his ear woke Gaurav up in the middle of the night. He sat up on his bed and realised he was sweating profusely.

'Perhaps I had a nightmare,' he muttered to himself.

He switched on the table lamp, poured a glass of water from a jug, drank it in one gulp and then looked at the ticking clock. 3.05 a.m.

Gaurav's friends had gone out for a party and he had decided not to join them. It was a different matter that he wasn't really into loud parties, but the day had been very exhausting and he had looked forward to a good night's sleep.

The silence was like a restorative draught after the frenetic rush of the day, surrounding him like a fresh, pristine white blanket of snow on a winter's day. Tiredness swallowed him whole again. His lashes fluttered and sleep came over him again.

Foreword

Some people touch the lives of others in such profound and dramatic ways that they change those lives for the better. Gaurav Tiwari was one such person. Through his words, his actions, his good deeds, his research, and now, sadly, his legacy, Gaurav continues to change lives for the better.

If you are reading this book and have never heard the life story of India's greatest paranormal investigator and researcher, you are in for a life-changing discourse about spirituality, paranormal belief and self-belief. Gaurav Tiwari was many things to many people. For some, he was India's greatest paranormal expert, for others he was their team leader at the Indian Paranormal Society. He was a mentor to many, an idol to others, a sex symbol, a singer, an actor, a guru, a religious icon, a friend. But for me, he was my little brother! He was family.

I was first introduced to Gaurav through Facebook in 2009, not long after he founded the Indian Paranormal Society. He had messaged me as a cousin of his living in Brisbane, Australia, needed the help of a paranormal investigator. Gaurav was not aware at the time of the vast distances between cities in Australia. He thought Adelaide, where I lived, was not far from Brisbane, which is almost 2,000 kilometres by road, or a two-hour flight. While I could not go to Brisbane, I found his relative the help he needed locally, and at the same time, struck up a friendship with Gaurav.
