Batik is a variety of tie and dye technique that is
practiced in Indonesia and the name also has an
Indonesian origin. Batik is a kind of resist dye where
the design is drawn and the areas, which are to be
dyed with a different color, are waxed. When the cloth
is dipped in color the areas that are waxed do not get
colored and then a separate color is applied to the
rest of the cloth. Batik is considered very
traditional and auspicious in the Indonesian religious
life. Every religious occasion in Indonesia has the
symbolism of Batik in it.
This batik sari comes in a parrot green body with white and blue batik flowers all over it. The border of the sari has blue and white lotus flowers. Lotus has an unmistakable place in the Hindu mythology as the seat of goddess Lakshmi- the goddess of wealth. The pallav of the sari consists of small batik dots on the periphery with a large batik lotus motif in the middle.
This sari is in crisp cotton and looks very elegant.
