This pitcher made of copper is commonly known as a Kalash. It has a small mouth but a comparatively bigger body and a flat base. This Kalash has a very important role to play in Hindu rituals. It can be used for making the Purna Kalash which is constructed by filling the pitcher with water, drawing a Swastika on the body of the Kalash, then placing an Aam Pallav (five mango leaves) on the mouth of the Kalash and putting a Shri Phal or coconut on top of that.  Some flowers and a red cloth or sacred thread are tied over the coconut placed on the top of the Kalash. This Kalash can also be used for keeping water that is essential for Pujas. The presence of copper as a material enriched the water with its good qualities and made the water perfectly fit for rituals.
