My late father, Sri Mannem Pitchalah garu, an illiterate yet
deeply wise man, embodied the Südra spirit of sacrifice and duty that this
anthology seeks to revive, In our remote village of Boru Narsapuram (Mangapet),
Telangana, he dared to dream of a different future for me beyond the bullock
carts and paddy fields. Against opposition and rural uncertainties in 1976, he
and my mother's paternal aunt, Peddappa, ensured my education in Warangal,
entrusting me to a generous Vaishya family who welcomed me as their own. His
sacrifices made possible my entry into the Indian Police Service in 1986, a
milestone unimaginable without his resolve. His selflessness mirrors the
civilisational resilience this anthology champions, teaching me that true
Dharma lies in acting courageously against all odds. His legacy fuels my
resolve to defend Sanatana Dharma from extinction, making every day a personal
Father's Day. A treasured memory with my wise father deepened my devotion to
Sanatana Dharma, unveiling the profound wisdom woven into Hindu traditions.
Each Makar Sankranti, when school holidays heralded the paddy harvest, I
accompanied my father to our fields, where artisans such as carpenter,
blacksmith, washerman, barber, and cobbler gathered their annual share of
grains from the threshing floor. For the village Purohit, however, no fixed
portion was set; the offering rested on the giver's discretion, a mark of
reverence for his sacred role. Entrusted by my father, I delivered sacks of
paddy to the Purohit's home, where he and his wife welcomed me with warmth,
offering snacks and inquiring about my studies, This annual ritual bound us to
our heritage until 1977, when, newly enrolled at a junior college in Warangal
and swayed by the urban education's subtle anti-Hindu bias, veiled as
anti-Brahmana critique, I questioned my father for the first time: "Why
offer our harvest to the Purohit, who renders no tangible service, unlike
others?" With tranquil wisdom, he responded. "My son, you are young
and will come to understand. Deliver the paddy and seek his blessings." This
sparked a lifelong quest to appreciate the priestly class's role, later
illuminated by the Bhriguvalli of the Taittiriya Upanishad, where Bhrigu's
inquiry into Brahman, guided by his father Varuna, reflects the Purohit's
spiritual stewardship of Hindu society. My father's guidance underscores the
need to honour Sanatana Dharma's timeless structures against modernity's
erosions. In an era of rapid globalisation and cultural homogenisation, the
survival of ancient civilisations demands introspection and resolute action.
Sanatana Dharma, the eternal way of Hindu civilisation, stands at a critical
juncture. With over 116 crore adherents-more than fifteen percent of
humanity-Hindus remain uniquely stateless, lacking a sovereign nation to
champion their spiritual, cultural, and civilisational interests. A Quiver Full
of Hindu Arrows: Reclaiming a Civilisational Narrative is a clarion call to
address this existential crisis. This anthology is not a lament but a battle
cry-an intellectual and cultural arsenal to defend, revive, and reassert Hindu
civilisation's timeless wisdom while forging alliances with kindred traditions,
such as Confucian China, to strengthen its global presence.
M. Nageswara Rao a former Director of CBI and lifelong
defender of Hindu civilisation unleashes a quiver of razor-sharp essays that
expose the existential threats facing Hindus today: demographic free-fall,
constitutional discrimination, temple enslavement, state-sponsored cultural
deracination, and the twin betrayals of pseudo-secularism and pseudo-Hindutva.
This is not a lament. It is a battle cry - and a precise
battle plan for the survival, revival, and ultimate triumph of Sanatana Dharma
(Hindutva).
