Goddess Saraswati With Lotus Aureole

Goddess Saraswati With Lotus Aureole

Goddess Saraswati is sculpted out of a special kind of black marble from Mahabalipuram having a smooth texture along with the unique quality of being scribbled out in patterns with a little sharp object to form beautiful white designs that adorn herself. She is the most beautiful goddess in the entire Hindu pantheon and revered for her deep inclination towards arts, science, wisdom and knowledge.

She sits here in lalitasana on a rectangular double layered lotus pedestal with the four hands carrying her iconic implements. The anterior hands hold a veena, placed diagonally across her stance reflecting her love for music and arts, left rear hand carries the book of vedas signifying her as supreme knowledgeable and right holds the japamala (rosary), as a sign of her divineness.

The sculptor has creatively chiselled out the enormous patterns of her ankle length dhoti and an attached kamarband along with the marvellous choker necklace and karnaphool that adorn her in graciousness. Zoon in to have a precise look at the clear designs of her long multi-patterned crown and a large lotus aureole that glorifies behind it. Sharp facial features and the highlighted white briefings focus on the immeasurable royalty and divinity of this sculpture.
