Asmita (B.Tech., M.S.-Mech, M.S.-E.T.M.), is an engineer by profession and an artist by passion. As a student of science, engineering drawing was her most favorite subject. She began experimenting with various colors, media and techniques as a hobby while pursuing masters degree programs in mechanical engineering and management studies from the USA. Her undergraduate background is in chemistry of colorants.
She is a self-taught artist. Nature, landscapes, mountains and forests inspire her art. Watercolor is her favorite choice for painting. Watercolor landscapes on Yupo paper is her latest successful experiment. She has led the organizing of a famous art exhibition Pratima Utkat Rangakatha in Pune. She has been a jury as well for a few other art exhibitions. She has conducted art workshops for underprivileged students.
Her paintings have been displayed at several art shows in Pune. Painting plein-air in scenic areas of Konkan is her favorite idea of a relaxing holiday. She believes painting refreshes the mind and attracts positive energy to an artist.
