About the Book

Aditya Bikram Gumansingh Chamling (1942-2003) was born in Tista Bazar, Darjeeling district, West Bengal. Chamling is basically known for his poems and critical essays. He began his literary career by publishing a poem titled Atmako Antim Anunay (The Last Imitation of Soul) in 1959 in a bi-monthly literary magazine Sahitya-Sangam edited by himself. His other poetry collections include Jiwan Paridbibbitra (1962), Antardwanda (1964), Surya Udawnubhanda Pahilyai (1968), Kärägärbbitra Pratikcha ra anya Kavitaharu (1978). Manlo: Sahityik Wartabaruko Sangalo (1978) earned him the Sahitya Akademi Award. He also had to his credit a work titled Aristotle and bis Epic: Perry Poetics which was an assignment given to him by Nepal Rajkiya Pragya Pratisthan, Nepal. The last book by Chamling is Bhanubhaktacharyako Upadbi ra Adikavitvake Prashna (The Title of Bhanubhaktacharya and the Question of Pioneership in Poetry) published in 2000.

About the Author

Terence Mukhia (b. 1975) was born at Maria Basti, Kagay Bazar, in Kalimpong District of West Bengal, India. As a bilingual writer in English and Nepali he has authored some books and contributed more than hundred scholarly articles and translations to various journals, books and magazines. Recognized as a philosopher, author, translator and a poet, he is currently serving as Associate Professor and Dean of Studies, Arts and Humanities, at Salesian College Sonada, Darjeeling.
