Prof. C.R. Agnives (1947 - 2015) is noted for his academic excellence as well as oratory and presentation skills. He has got more than 37 years teaching experience in the subject, Ayurvedeeya-padaartha-vijnjanam. He was a brilliant teacher, in-depth scholar, effective writer, translator, editor, painter and a poet. He was also the Editor-in-chief of Kerala Ayurveda Vaidyam, a quarterly scientific journal of Ayurveda in English, for quite some time. He authored many text books on Ayurveda in Malayalam and numerous articles in English. Ayurvedeeya-padaartha-vijnjanam is his major text work in English. He was a free thinker in the field of Ayurveda. This book is spiced and seasoned throughout with his rational thinking. His marvelous writing has turned the otherwise dry subject more juicy, sweet and beckoning. The Govt. of Kerala honored him with the Dhanvantari Award (2007) for thebest all-rounder in the field of Ayurveda.
