Book Description
Preface

If we venture to look upwards you may see three brightest stars shining on the sky over India. Gautam Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi and Bhagavad Gita.

It is a miracle that in the distant past, many many centuries back, a philosophical poem had been versified in Bharat (India) which not only talks of. but effectively persuades the reader to turn his attention towards the global scenario, and understand his responsibilities towards the mother earth. And beyond, the song endearingly called, 'song celestial', Invites, encourages, the devotee to become aware of the cosmic play, try to tune in with the cosmic conscientiousness the plenitude of his final source. home.

Gita compilation is not only modernistic, but futurist, transcendent, for the text speaks for no caste, or creed or region, but has edifying message for all races, all climes, and for all times.

Gita's resolute intention is to nourish and build up tallest men, not only physically, but more so mentally, to develop broadest vision, clearest head, kindest heart and magnanimous behaviour.

Mahatma Gandhi was introduced to Bhagavad Gita, when he was only 20 years old in 1889. I had the good luck to pick up this celestial text a hundred years later, when I was close to 90 years. In Hindu families there is holistic practice, to read some bits from Gita when any one in the family happens to exhaust his last few breaths. This opportunity to get familiar with the sublime scripture some years earlier, was very exalting.

In these 80-90 years I had earlier traversed through the prophetic, soulful writings of Munshi Prem Chand, the world renowned classics authored by Rabindranath Tagore, and the tearful social tales of Sarat Chandra.

I was also grateful for introduction to the many texts of the Theosophical Society of India, contributed under the august guidance of genius Annie Besant. Thereafter there was the good chance of acquaintance with the fabulous literature of English and European literati, and others. Entire Gandhian literature was very enlightening, a treasure of wisdom, and of his exceptional courage to use soul-force to liberate, crores of Indians from slavery of centuries.

Along with, there had been extended contacts with pundits and scholars about Indian antique faiths and religious practices, and changes and reformed perceptions from pantheistic faith to monistic format.
