Sanatana Dharma or Hinduism embodied in the divine language of Sanskrit is the oldest of the world's. existing Dharmas (religions). The Bhagavad Gita occupies a paramount place in the Indian epic of Mahabharata. With its highly sublime, nature it is regarded by many as a new testa-ment of Hinduism. The central theme of the Bhagavad Gita is said to be the essence of Brahman in the scripture of yoga, i.e. it deals with the idea of Brahman in the light of the yoga system of thought. This is an attempt to show that the essential idea of all the sys terms as reflected in eighteen chapters is based on Sacrifice (Yajna). Being the sheet anchor of Hindu life, Gita conveys universal principles of life. Gita is a redeemer to all. Each and every person on this earth can seek for solace in this treatise.

Though there are innumerable commentaries on the Bhagavad Gita, the present translation in poetic style has its unique value. Sanskrit text with Roman and the Notes on each chapter will be of much benefit.
