BHASA SASTRA PRAVESINI a hand book on Comparative Philology, was written in 1938 by Prof. R.S. Venkatarama Sastri, former Professor of Madras Sanskrit College and Vivekananda College, Madras. A profound scholar in Sanskrit and English, he has written this book in lucid Sanskrit to enable the students to understand the subject easily. This book is a standing example of his painstaking effort in making out a very useful book with consistent flow of valuable information.
As very few books are available on Comparative Philology this book is of prime importance to a deep study of this subject.
Due to passage of time of nearly sixty years, this book is not available for students and scholars interested in this subject. There has been a great demand for this book, since this book is a prescribed text for the Siromani course of the University of Madras and serves as a reference book for the allied courses.
The Kuppuswami Sastri Research Institute has already released the reprint of the book SAMSKRTA SAHITYA ITIHASAH (History of Sanskrit Literature) by Prof. R.S.V. Sastri on the occasion of the Valedictory function of its Golden Jubilee celebrations. The Institute is happy to bring out the reprint of BHASA SASTRA PRAVESINI in connection with its Golden Jubilee. We are sure that students and scholars will find this book very useful in pursuing their studies in comparative philology.
