Book Description

Foreword

To be born as a contemporary when God chooses to descend on the earth as an Avathar and to become an instrument in His Avatharic Mission and finally merge in His Divine Lotus Feet is a great fortune not many human beings are endowed with. There can be no greater blessing than this for the human birth. In fact, God Himself goes in search of such 'Blessed Souls' and grants them an opportunity to become useful instruments in His Divine Mission. He grants them Salokya, Samipya, Sarupya and Sayujya. Lord Sree Rama in the Treta Yuga granted such an opportunity to great bhaktas (devotees) like Hanuman and Vibhishana. When He did not find anything that He could offer as a token of His love and appreciation to His beloved servant Hanuman, Lord Rama offered Himself to Hanuman, instead. In the Krishnavathar, Lord Krishna was completely won over by the devotion and surrender of the gopas and gopis. As a result, He spent His entire childhood in their company showing His divine leelas to them and finally granted them Sayujya.

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Yugavathar in Kali had beautifully described this concept in a poem thus: "That Nandabala (Lord Krishna) had come As Anandabala (the blissful child) In search of His companions; That Ramachandra (Lord Rama) had come As Aramachandra (giver of happiness) To find His erstwhile bantus (servitors) That Maha Vishnu (Lord Vishnu) had come As Mahi Vishnu (Vishnu on this earth) To don His weapons for establishing righteousness; That Easa (Lod Easwara) had come As Bala Sayeesa (The divine child Sai) To play with His group (of devotees); That Supreme Lord as the Puppeteer Keeps the beings as puppets on the stage of this Universe And the divine play goes on and on! Let us enjoy the play and describe it a little.' In the Avatharic Mission of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba that has been going on for more than eight decades, several noble souls have played their part to the best of their ability and in a manner that is pleasing to Bhagawan and thus sanctified their lives. In the end, they merged in the Divine Lotus Feet of Bhagawan Baba. A list of 21 such individuals has been made out and a compilation entitled 'The Blessed Souls' is brought out on the occasion of the 85th year of the Advent of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, depicting their contribution to the Avatharic Mission, their selfless service, their experiences and their spiritual relationship with Bhagawan. It is possible that there may be millions of such blessed souls all over the world who have dedicated their lives for Bhagawan's Mission. For fear of the compilation growing voluminous, their stories have not been included in the book. We pray we may be pardoned for this omission. Nevertheless, we offer our salutations to all those noble souls. It is hoped that this compilation 'The Blessed Souls' would inspire millions of devotees and sadhaks all over the world in their journey to Sai. We humbly submit this small compilation at the Lotus Feet of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba for His Divine Blessings.

About The Book

The past eight and a half decades in the present millennium and that immediately preceding had witnessed the spiritualization of the services of education, health, drinking water etc., by providing them free of cost to all sections of the society with loving care as a gift of God to humanity by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Avathar of the Age. In fact, this has been the Divine Mission of Bhagawan. In this Mission, several noble souls played their humble part on receipt of the call from their Master and sanctified their lives. They lived only for Swami. They were indeed 'Blessed Souls' having been finally merged in the Lotus Feet Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. This book is a compilation of the lives of such 'Blessed Souls', their divine experiences and their contribution to the Avatharic Mission.
