The 100th anniversary of the Advent of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, commencing in November 2025, marks a monumental milestone for the millions of devotees worldwide. These celebrations are not merely the commemoration of an epoch-making event, but a vibrant global festival of gratitude and a collective rededication to living His profound message. The celebrations are envisioned as a heartfelt offering of love in action, reflecting the core principles that defined His life and mission. At the core of these celebrations is the deep desire to intensify the practice of His teachings and to strengthen the inner connection with Him. As the world bows down in homage to Him, I too wish to place this garland of gratitude at His Lotus feet.
In the vast tapestry of human experience, there are threads of grace so luminous they illuminate the entire design, revealing a pattern of divine intervention that transcends the ordinary. This book is a humble attempt to trace some of those radiant threads, to recount a journey of faith that began not as a conscious quest, but as an act of sheer desperation that blossomed into a lifetime of devotion. This book is a salutation to the Supreme Healer, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, who bestows not just physical health, but the holistic well-being that arises from a life anchored in the divine.
The stories within these pages are not mere chronicles of miracles; they are testaments to a living, breathing relationship with God-a relationship that has been the cornerstone of our family for over half a century. Our story begins, as many tales of profound faith do, at the precipice of despair. In the late 1960s, my father was handed what was then a virtual death sentence: a diagnosis of terminal cancer. After twenty-five agonising and unsuccessful surgeries, the helpless surgeon, confided that the cancer had outstripped the scalpel. Father was sent home to spend his final days with his children. It was in this abyss of hopelessness that a new light entered our lives. It was a light in an orange robe, a divine physician whose prescription was not medicine, but a simple, powerful declaration: "Your cancer is cancelled." My father's instantaneous healing from that moment was the foundational miracle upon which our family's faith was built. Father lived for another thirty-nine vibrant, healthy years, a walking testament to Swami's boundless compassion and power.
What began with this singular, life-altering event unfolded into a lifetime of experiences that reaffirmed the Lord's constant, loving presence. This book is a garland woven from those memories, each anecdote a flower offered in gratitude at His Lotus Feet. From the innocent offering of a battered lotus as a young boy in "Hrdaya Kamalam," which Swami accepted, I learnt my first lesson in devotion: the Lord sees not the value of the offering, but the purity of the heart.
As a careless schoolboy playing truant to watch movies, I learnt of His omniscience and, more importantly, His infinite compassion in the "Kați Patang" incident. He knew my every secret, yet He chose to correct with love rather than expose with judgment. He revealed just enough to transform me. This compassion of His became the cord that tethered my heart to His Lotus feet forever. He is the Apad-bandhava, the friend in times of distress, who turned a certain failure in a mathematics exam into an unexpected triumph, demonstrating that no worldly problem is too insignificant for His attention.
