This book (in 2 parts) presents a catalogue of the skulls of Indian origin spanning over a period from the time of Hathnora Hominid to the present times with descriptions and measurements as recorded by the Indian, Ceylonese, Pakistani, British, French, German, Italian. Portuguese, Belgian, American and Russian scholars from 1790 to 2020.
Unfortunately, we have not been able to include measurements of the remaining half of the sky due to our limited time and resources. We anticipate that some students of the present generation will revise our current work and complete it by adding the cranial measurements of female skulls from India, as documented by numerous anthropologists worldwide. In a few instances in this catalogue, we have noted the number or measurements of female skulls, however, in almost all cases, we have been unable to do so, which we regret.
Our study shows that the Harappans (the CSS people) are the ancestors of the Indians / Hindus (i.e., the Aryan people, who have gradually absorbed increasing admixture of the Indian aborigines).
The entire corpus of craniometric data presented in this book was handled one hand at a time (1968-1998), when internet connections were unknown in India, and informative books on the subject were available only in select libraries, not online.
Many mistakes may happen when using data collected over two centuries. We ask our readers to forgive us for any errors.
The author would greatly appreciate it if any reader could kindly inform him of any mistakes in presenting the data.
