The poet is born in twentieth January of 1941 at the sacred Lord Jagannath Dham, Puri of Odisha province, being the eldest son of Maniram Mishra and Sevati Devi, he completed Post Graduate Master's degree successfully and after serving in various colleges, he last retired as a Principal of College with unbounded and abundant honours to his credit. He has been glorified with various awards like Sahitya Academy award, Vishuva Samman for three times in 1960, 1966 & 1975 on the auspices of Prajatantra Prachara Samittee, Odisha Sangeeta Natak Academy award in 2004, Akashavani Award in the same year, Gangadhar Meher Kavita Samman in 2007, Bhanuji RaoSamman in 2008, Atibadi Sammana and Sarala Puraskara, besides a score of awards for his master-piece 'Divya Asantosh' 'Darpana Sila' and others, which have been translated into Hindi and English by eminent litterateurs.
Poet Shri Harihar Mishra, a versatile genius, an erudite and brilliant scholar an eminent dramatist, an illustrious poet of Odia literature has left no stone unturned in composing rhetoric rhymes, elegies, metaphysical sagas, historical and social dramas, romantic and philosophical stories containing purely spiritual fervours. None the less he is a reputed radio-artist a renowned and laurelled writer, a research scholar of the first order pertaining to various spheres and segments of Odia literature at large.
He has been glorified with various. Another noteworthy master-piece containing one thousand one poems a massive and magnificent monument of pinnacle's height which would remain eternal and imperishable in the vast realm of Odia literature. His exploring ingenuity blooms effulgently placing him permanently as a prolific trend-setter and a bright luminary in the azury firmament of Odia literature as well. So far he has authored more than two dozen marvellous and precious books which are the milestones in the long path of his traversing track ever untrodden by others.
As a legendary figure in the corridor of the literary world of Odia literature, he shines as dazzling luminary shall glitter and for ages to come too.
