Anupam Shobhakar hails from the Maihar Gharana, a family whose contribution to the world of instrumental music is unparalled, a legacy which has produced artists such as Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Pt Ravi Shankar, Pt Nikhil Banarjee and Anupam’s guru and grandson of Baba Allaudin Khan-Ustad Aashish Khan, he also happens to be a wizard when it comes to electronic music. Using sampled sounds, VST plugins and stringently programmed MIDI soundscapes, rooted in an extensive and serious study of various melodic, harmonic and rhythmic traditions, Anupam creates massive blends that give a fresh outlook on challenging and improvisation ally virtuous blends world music which truly collaborates with serious and technically accomplished musicians. Having worked with some of the best sound engineers in the world, Anupam has always maintained that you cannot lie when it comes to sound.
