Foreword
Drsti is the faculty of seeing, spiritually it is to see with the mental eye. Pata is alighting. as well as descent - the power of generating the spiritual wisdom through mere look. It is transferring the energy for being apt to receive the sakti-pata. Desti-pata in the general context of the term is to bless the aspirant though mere glance, but it is the destined meeting place of the Divine souls to work together for spiritual enlightenment on the earth planet, from the Trika point of view. It is a promise to be absorbed in the bija and be ever present to see the Immortal bliss on the destined place. In the Trika terminology, it is the communion of dik and kala. It maps a system of Self with Divinity, through the application of desti. The mäntrik power is bestowed upon the aspirant, by the guru, that thrills the message of the Superme delight of the Sabda. Blessed is the Rishi Vatika - the home of the pși tradition in Kashmir, known as the Ishvar Ashram, to have the Ishvara Svaroop Swami Lakshman Joo Maharaj, guiding his devotees through His desti-pata. Professor Pushp would address Him as the "Resident Deity" of the Ishvar Ashram, and Yogini Shri Sharika Ji happened to be the mukhya-sisya (Chief Disciple). Kashmir as referred to in the Nilamata Purana, is the cradle of Śiva and Sakti doctrines of thought, appropriated with the popular expression of the Agamas, based on the true knowledge imparted by Para-Bhairava Himself. Parama-Śiva is said to be the originator of "Para-Vidyä", being the transcendental knowledge. Saiva and Säkta are the two prevailing streams of the Kashmir Trika philosophy. The great äcäryas of the Agamas have made every effort to awaken the dormant samvit-säkti for the spiritual evolution of the sädhakas (aspirants) of the Truth, in relation to samvit-šākti, through applied spanda, better known as the drști-pāta, in the Trika terminology. Drşți-pāta, verily, is the spontaneous method of imparting the source energy filled with Sakti through drști determined in having meaning as obvious as should be quite-apparent to the spiritual vision. The door to Divinity is opened through the grace of the Parama Guru, in the being of the Ishvara Svaroopa Shrimant Swami Lakshman Joo Maharaj.

Acknowledgement
The idea to bring out this book is to present a few glimpses of the life at Ishvar Ashram of Swami Lakslunan Joo at Nishat, Srinagar. This thought was initiated by one of us (Suresh Sopory). After discussing it with Sudhir Sopory, it was felt that we should present the pictorial gallery of the Guru Maharaj as also his two main disciples, Sushri Sharika Devi and Prabha Devi, who lived and served him for over decades at His Ashram and who themselves attained knowledge of Kashmir Shaivism at His holy feet. Through knowledge and practice they reached pinnacle of self-realization. Sharika Devi Ji attained moksha about six months before her guru, a promise that she had taken from him so that he could perform her last rites himself. Presently, Prabha Devi Ji is continuing the traditions of the Ashram, wherever she stays, through teaching the texts of Shaivism to her disciples. She also inaugurated Hari Har Trika Ashram at Maheshvar, Madhya Pradesh, India, to enable Dr. Gupta to pass on the tenets of Kashmir Shaivism to all those who want to benefit from it.
