I feel happy that Book-I has been put to good use for the students of Prak-Shastri-I year. I also learnt that the exercises in the Book had motivated the learners to learn.
The University in all its earnestness would like to express its gratitude to Prof. S. Mohan Raj and Prof. Jayashree Mohan Raj (Formerly of English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad) for extending their expertise in the production of the English Readers: Book-I and Book-II.
I place on record the hard and sincere work put in by Prof. V. Sujatha in co-ordinating the work on the Textbook project and in completing this book too.
Uniformity has been maintained in all other aspects such as using authentic materials, pictures, colour-scheme, layout, etc. to encourage the students to participate actively in the language learning process. The introduction of grammatical items in context would help them in identifying the usage of language in real-life situations. Communicative activities would help them use language in real-life situations with peers, teachers and other at large.
