Book Description

About the Book

In the book "Famine Aspects of Bengal Districts," written by William Wilson Hunter in 1874, the author provides a detailed account of the famine that affected Bengal in the late 19th century. The narrative explores various aspects of the famine, detailing its causes, consequences, and the measures taken to alleviate its impact. Hunter thoroughly examines the economic, social, and political factors contributing to the famine, while also investigating the response of the British colonial government to the crisis. The book utilizes statistical data and maps to visually represent the famine's extent and its consequences on the population.
