While there have been many books on the Bhagavadgita over decades, if not centuries, by renowned authors, updated versions continue to pour in, bringing newer and relevant dimensions to this great text. Among the triplet of our spiritual heritage consisting of Shruti (Upanishads), Smrti (edited texts of the Upanishads such as the Bhagavad Gita), and Nyaaya (Brahma Sutras) Prasthana, the Bhagavadgita provides the sum and substance of the entire knowledge base of our creation and beyond as found in the Upanishads.
Modern science over the last 400 years has fathomed the structure (energy at the base of all matter) and laws (classical and Quantum mechanics) of the physical world and is moving further to understand the subtler and causal dimensions of the entire creation. The Upanishads unraveled the whole creation, consisting of five layers of the universe (known as Pancha Koshas Annamaya, Pranamaya, Manomaya, Vijnanamaya, and Anandamaya Koshas), which continuously change, governed by the triplet law of Creation, Sustenance, and Destruction, made out of Chitta (mind) and that which is beyond and does not change, called as Brahman or Reality. To bring this total knowledge base, the Gita systematically presents it in its 700 slokas across 18 chapters, with each chapter called a Yoga and representing the most comprehensive text on Yoga.
"First Step into Bhagavad Gita" is the inaugural volume of the Gita Odyssey series, an ambitious project by Project Self, aiming to bridge the ancient wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita with contemporary intellect. This book is an invitation to embark on a transformative journey through the enlightening insights of the Gita, a scripture that stands as a timeless voice of wisdom, resonating across ages with humanity's heart.
The book is designed as an accessible, step-by-step guide through the complexities of human life, making the profound teachings of the Bhagavad Gita relatable to seekers from all walks of life. Reflecting the collective spiritual experiences of its authors the Author Trio from Project Self, the book is a testament to their desire to connect every heart with the Gita's timeless wisdom.
In essence, this book is more than just a guide to the Gita's teachings; it is a pathway to personal transformation, inviting readers to explore and understand. I am confident that the book will attract a large audience seeking deeper knowledge dimensions contained in the Bhagavadgita. I wish all the best for the success of this first volume brought out by the authors.
