He who with supreme devotion to me teaches this great secret to my devotees, shall doubtlessly attain me.
Foreword
It was almost 60 years back when as a youngster 1 was very much impressed with Christianity after reading a copy of "The New Testament" given to me by a friend. Afterwards, I had half a mind to convert to that faith and told my dad about my intention. He did not outright oppose it and admitted that "The Bible" was indeed a great book. But he asked me something else which I had not so far thought of. "But have you read any of our own scriptures?" I had to meekly admit that I had not. He suggested reading at least one of our own religious books before taking any hasty decision. In fact I had tried reading the Bhagavad Gita once. The language and the contents of the book just went above my head and I told him about it. He advised: "There is an English version of interpretation of Gita by Acharya Vinoba Bhave that is easy to understand. He was talking to the inmates of Yerwada Jail while undergoing imprisonment there as a freedom fighter. There is no reason why you should not understand a subject which was conveyed to the prisoners who were virtually illiterate and intellectually unrefined. Try reading it and tell me if you did not understand it." I got a copy of the book titled "Gita Pravachan" and went through it. It opened my eyes and introduced me to the vast metaphysical wisdom contained in our scriptures. Gita is the essence of the Upanishads and if I wanted to know more on the subject, I had to try reading Upanishads also. I bought a book titled "Message of Upanishads" written by the great sage Sri. Ranganathacharya of Sri Ramakrishna Mutt. That was the starting point of my long association with our Vedic philosophy that continued for more than the past 50 years. However, I have to humbly admit that I was a very slow learner. Let me make a very bold statement at this point. "Gita is a dangerous book- as dangerous as any double-edged weapon". In fact, every powerpacked gadget is like that. For instance, a car is very convenient to help us traverse distances. At the same time, it can be a threat not only to the passenger, but every other being on the road if handled by an idiot who does not know driving. A double-edged sword is an excellent weapon that would save your life in a combat situation. But if you are not trained enough in sword fighting the same weapon can take your own life also. One can play with sea waves if he knows swimming. Otherwise, he will drown. Thus, it is

About The Book
Gita is a dangerous book. But which powerind gadget is not dangerous? Adequate training is needed to handla such devices. Ona is no exception. This is not my half baked opininon. Let me quote Lord Krishna himself "Idam te naatapaskaaya naabhaktaǝya kadbachana: Na chaashushrooshave vaachyam na cha maam yo'bhyasooyati." This (supreme advice) should not be conveyed by you to those devoid of a focused attention. This should not be advised to these who have no faith in God also. Those who do not have any interest in hearing about this are also not eligible to hear this. Whoever hates me (Parmatman) due to egoism/vanity, should also not be advised this.
