The Golden Treasury of Science & Technology was brought out in 1992 on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee year of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR). Even 25 years after its first edition was brought out, it continues to be a most cherished and widely popular encyclopaedic publication brought out by the National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR)
On the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee of CSIR in 2017, therefore, a revised and comprehensively updated volume is being presented for the benefit of our esteemed readers. Progress in science and technology is so rapid these days that often it becomes difficult to keep up with new developments. And wide-scale advances have occurred in science and technology over the last decade or so. Many new scientific terms have entered the public domain especially in the field of biotechnology, information technology, nanotechnology, data analytics, IPR, etc. about which people may not be fully aware.
Apart from updating the existing entries in the encyclopaedia, an effort has been made to include new scientific terms and terminologies that have entered the vocabulary of public discourse in the last few years. The new updated Golden Treasury of Science & Technology contains around five hundred new entries from various fields of science and technology. Highly technical and specialised scientific terms have been explained in comprehensive manner. Cross-referencing of allied topics increases the comprehension of the scientific terms.
This new, enlarged and updated encyclopaedic volume is presented with many more visuals, coloured illustrations and photographs with an appealing layout. The efforts have been made to attract especially our young generation bubling with lot of enthusiasm and looking for authentic information, in the emerging fields of science and technlogy.
